Burns Supper 2010           

                                                                                            

                

On Friday the 22nd of January, Lodge St. James, 125, held their annual Burns Supper under the chairmanship of Mr. Jack Heathcote, the R.W.Master of the Lodge. The event was well attended by a company of almost 70 Lads and Lassies.

                 

The 'Chieftan' was piped in by Mr. Graeme Dunn and addressed by Mr Stuart Howie .After an excellent meal by Robbie McKinstry, the company enjoyed an evening of toasts, music, song and poetry.
The immortal memory was proposed by Mr Matt McCubbin, the toast to The Lassies was ably given by Mr. Scott Morrison and Mrs. Lee-Anne McGrugan suitably replied.

                                                                                                                                                                         

              

A most interesting toast to 'Auld Ayr' was proposed by Mr. Robert Howie. The toast list was interspersed by song from Mr. Andrew Baird, music from Danny McPherson the 'Gutscraper', (Fiddle) and Kenny on the piano accordian, and the inimitable Messrs. Mervyn Stuart, Mr. Robert Ogilvie, Mr Jack Heathcote, Delighted the company with their renditions of 'Tam 'o' Shanter', Ranalds o the Bennals', 'Willie Wassal', 'Death and Dr. Hornbook, and 'Holy willies Prayer'.  

Mr. Sam Wales proposed a vote of thanks to all who had contributed to what could only be described as a ' Superb Evening'. This was enthusiastically supported by the whole company. The evening was concluded with 'Auld Lang Syne'.
There after, 'Each took aff his several way, Resolved to meet some ither day'.
